Well, I've been playing the demo for a couple days now, and I really like the possibilities... However, I've noticed a few bugs, omissions, and possible room for improvment :)
Bug- there's a bug with weight on the soldiers in battle. I'm not sure of the exact cause/results, but I do know that the soldiers will gain "ghost" weight- when their inventories are completely empty, not wearing any armor or belts, some will still have a bit of weight on them. This adds up; one of my soldiers has 10.5kg of ghost weight and loses several AP!
Omission- you can transfer equipment through the Storage screen, but how do you transfer personnel? I can't find any way to transfer soldiers, scientists, or technicians to other bases...
Omission- There seems to be a minimum distance grenades can be thrown. This doesn't make much sense, as it's easy enough to just pull the pin and drop the grenade...
Bug- Intercepting ground based missions seems to be a bit buggy. Often, when clicking on the "alert" button, and then clicking on the ground based mission to attack, it won't select the mission, and you have to manually click on it on the worldmap.
Bug- Battlescape inventory bug with items "sticking" to the mouse. When moving items around between the transport and the troops, a rare bug will occur where an item you're attempting to transfer will become "stuck" to the mouse, and you become unable to move any more equipment because that item won't leave the mouse. Requires a restart of the game to fix. (reloading a savegame doesn't seem to work)
Bug- transports carrying captured equipment back from the battlefield seem to like to keep some of the equipment onboard, even when there's room in base storage. It's annoying to have to manually remove it after every mission. It seems to keep alien plasma pistols and light ammunition the most.
Stuff I'm assuming is due to the alpha stage of the demo-
Can't throw grenades through windows. Although maybe my soldiers just suck at throwing, and you *can* throw them through windows?
Super frequent UFO arrivals (there doesn't seem to be an option to change this in the UFO demo. I know someone said you could, in the "new game" window, but the only possibility I see is the redundant "First UFO attack date" and "First Alien attack date" options. Anybody know why it's got that repeat in there? Maybe one is supposed to be something else?
Ease of aerial combat. I took down 10 ships in a row, including several armaggedons, with my 3gun destroyer while only taking about half damage. Circle-strafe still rules...
No base defense- Although maybe this isn't going to be in the game? I notice that in base construction you don't lay the base out, so maybe your base(s) never come under attack?
I'll report more as I come across them...
And thanks for the excellent remake! |

Wait for next version. Should be more realistic. Not much more to say ;)

I think no. And never try to throw it throug a fence. I tried it at one of my first groundmissions and lost 2 soldiers.
But again: In the next version you should be able to destroy walls if I know it right. |
